Never satisfied

Yesterday’s part 1 of the current message series “Once Upon a Marriage” will strike a chord even if you’re not married — even if you’re just in your late teens or in your early professional career.

Craig, in his message, has clearly exposed a common problem in all of us. At some point in our lives, we will feel — or has felt — the discomfort of not being satisfied. Sometimes we really know what makes us dissatisfied — it can be the career, a relationship, or an unfulfilled dream. But sometimes if not most of the times, we’ll simply wake up in the morning clueless why we’re unhappy, dissatisfied.

So, the normal reaction is to try to find ways to fill in the gap. We’ll try job hopping. Or relationships. Or things. Or going into places. None of which are really bad in itself. But if we’re looking at these things to give us satisfaction in life, we’re missing the mark.

…Because it is God and only God can satisfy our souls. As that old hymn with the same title says:

He’ll give you peace you never knew,
Sweet joy and love and Heaven, too.
For only Jesus can satisfy your soul.

As we journey through life, we’ll encounter discomfort, dissatisfaction, sadness and emptiness. Run to Jesus. Let him be your ONE. And others your TWO. That’s the straightforward formula on being satisfied.
